Australian Property Monitors Privacy Policy

Australian Property Monitors Pty Ltd (APM) obtains property sales information from a number of sources, including the various State and Territory lands and property government departments.

The primary purpose for which APM collects and uses this information is to provide to its customers property data solutions, valuation models, Home Price Guides and research services.

APM is a subsidiary of Fairfax Media Limited and all information collected and used by APM is subject to the Fairfax Privacy Policy. The Fairfax Privacy Policy may, from time to time, be reviewed and updated to take account of new laws and technology and changes to our operations. APM is bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the National Privacy Principles, as well as equivalent State and Territory-based privacy legislation and principles. To the extent that property sales information collected and used by APM is 'personal information', APM must comply with the privacy legislation and principles. APM is also bound by privacy obligations under its licence agreements with suppliers of property sales information.

You should be aware that there are exceptions in the privacy legislation that mean in certain circumstances government agencies do not have to comply with the privacy principles. One example is where the law requires the collection, retention and public access to personal information related to land and property matters. If you have any questions about how this applies to your personal information, APM suggests that in the first instance you contact the lands and property government department for your State or Territory.
